For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.
But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.” James 1:23-25 NASB
When James a disciple of Jesus wrote these words he was writing from experience. James experienced life with Jesus. Jesus said something and then did what He had just spoke about. He healed a blind man, then told religious people of their blindness of God. He healed a leper and called the leper out of sin, illustrating sin is like leprosy.
James wasn’t a theoretical person. He didn’t talk much about what could be. He didn’t concern himself much with, ‘what if’s’.
James knew Jesus. Jesus heard the Father and did what the Father said. Jesus saw what the Father did and Jesus did it.
Beloved of Christ, be a doer of THE WORD. You hear the Shepherd, and the point of hearing the Shepherd is that you follow. Do the WORD.
Jesus desire was to do what Father said. Beloved Brothers and Sisters our desire is to be conformed to do THE WORD because Jesus is the Word.
Remember it’s a work within us to desire not the things of the flesh, but to to the will of our Lord. When we take a selfie...can we see Jesus?
