Here at Emmanuel Christian Church we give away the best of fruits and vegetables along with other foods to anyone who comes to the church. The provision is of the Lord. However, the fruits, once taken home, are to be consumed or they will rot. If held onto they will spoil. Try to conserve the provision and it will be - spoiled rotten.
This free gift is a lot like life. Life is not to be preserved for our own desires and only for what we like. If we pursue the thought that 'it is all about me', then we will become the center of our universe. We are so limited in our universal resources that we will soon become spoiled and spoiled rotten, leading to despair of heart.
Why? Because due to our human limitation eventually nothing will satisfy, since the expectations within our hearts will never be met.
In the Gospel of John, 4:14 there was a woman who was married 4 times. The man she was presently living with she was not married to. Knowing her yearning Jesus said, '... I will give you'... and you will ...'never thirst'... what I give you will ...'become in you a well of water springing up to eternal life.'
What was Jesus saying to this longing soul?
Let Jesus, The Word of God become the center of your life. Think about it. The one that created every cell, every feeling in you, every good thing, all peace of heart, wants to be the center of your universe. Jesus said, 'with man it is impossible but with God nothing is impossible.'
Are you holding on to your lifestyle? Are you trying to squeeze everything you can out your senses? Are you holding on to a relationship that is one in a long line of relationships because you are dependent on that person for your own value?
Like the fruit given away freely to be used for its purpose, your life was given you to be used for its purpose. That purpose is to find your inner identity with Jesus, let that relationship give you value. Jesus will then become the center of your life. The center of your universe. You will begin to have a new feeling...fresh, renewed, energized. Jesus the limitless provider will then fuel your universe. Instead of holding on and spoiling, you will be renewed day by day from glory to glory. If you haven't tried it, don't doubt it. Take a baby step of Faith... and as promised it will move you.
Pray today: Jesus, be the center of my life. Fill me so I may be like well water, fresh, renewed, used for the purpose you made me. Help me not to hold on and become spoiled rotten. Help me to let go of the old rotten stuff and be energized by You.
