YOU ARE ENGRAVED IN MY HANDS

But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, And the Lord has forgotten me." Isa. 49:14

When the Bible talks about Zion it is speaking of God’s people. The redeemed. God is speaking of the church. Look again at the charge those whom should have known the nature of God lay against God: ‘You have forsaken us, You have forgotten us’.

God’s people feel alone, abandoned and exiled. The feeling of abandonment, of vulnerability is very real. When a parent leaves, a spouse dies or the season in life brings you to that place of singleness...Jesus says, ‘ask, seek, knock' (Luke 11:9) and you will come into a reality that gives peace to the soul and joy to the heart.

The truth of God is this,

‘Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;...' Isaiah‬ ‭49:14-16‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Father God Himself is saying you were never alone. You just didn’t see me, I had you completely. He is the God that sees you. He sees you and you are in His hands. You have been all your life.

Question to you is, have you seen Him? God says, ‘He determined your time and living place so that you would seek God..’ So that you find Him even though He is not far from each of you.’ (Acts 17:26-27).

He is the God that sees you and beckons you so you see Him. Could it be you had missed placed expectations of God? God promises if you know Him you will perceive Him. Look again, your life is engraved in His hands. Every chapter of your life written on His nail scared hands.

God has always been there. He is always present or omnipresent. Always there and everywhere, omnipresent and never changing. He loves you.

There is an Old Testament Story in Genesis 21, of a woman named Hagar and her son Ishmael. They were thrown out into the desert by Hagar’s owner. As she and her young son begin to feel the death pangs of thirst in the desert she comes to terms with death. As she watches her son wilting from dehydration from the cry in her heart God reveals Himself to her and says, ‘Do not fear for God has heard the voice of the boy’ (17). ‘ Then God opened Hagar’s eyes and she saw a well of water...’ (19).

God opened her eyes to The Eternal Water that quenches the thirst and brings value and security to the longing of belonging to a Father that has you engraved in His hands. Friend take heart you are not alone. Jesus is near. He promises He will never leave you, never forsake you...in fact you are never alone. Ask, seek, knock you are not in exile.
