Have you ever spoken to someone that had a near death experience, a near fatal car accident, or a sickness that almost took their life? A man went on vacation in South America. While bike riding along a mountain bike trail he hit a stone, lost his balance, and fell off the cliff. Unknown to him he broke one arm and his leg below his knee was broken so that his foot was facing backward. No one came for him for a few hours. He thought he would die. When he finally got back to his home in New Jersey he cherished every moment he had. He changed his lifestyle to appreciate the new life he received back. He lived as those alive from the dead.
In Romans 6:13, the Bible directs every believer in Christ Jesus to, ‘present yourself to God as those alive from the dead’. What the Apostle Paul is saying is, live the Born-a-New life. You have a second lease on life. You are to live in newness of life. Your life is hidden In Christ. You are a new creation. Old things are passed away.
The freedom of resurrection is the new Spirit in you. The Spirit of Resurrection strength. Jesus strength.
Here an assessment is needed. Old fears, old dark thoughts, old hurts, old accusations against you, ‘passed away’. The truth is they have been ‘put away’ or crucified at the cross. You are free because of the resurrection. Those and many other dead things have been disarmed at the cross and now because of Jesus' resurrection, you can move on to ‘living’ as those alive from the dead.
The reality for every born again Christian is, you are alive from the dead. Your pre-Christian life with all its degrees and diplomas and worldly applause matter nothing in this new life. Those things are part of what was crucified at the cross. All things prior to you being born again have no value. Yes no value in this new life. They are counted as rubbish (Phps.3:8). So since you have nothing to bolster the ego, you are free to boast in Christ. Christ the power in you. Jesus your identification. Live as those alive from the dead. No fear of people or circumstances, No doubts of your future, No longer trapped by loneliness, despair, panic attacks.
Live as those alive from the dead. Live with abandon to know this new life...to know Jesus is life, peace and joy. Pursue it with passion!
