Pulling into a filling station with your car showing below “E” may be where that term was originated. The “car is on E yet it is still running”.
Some think church and the Christian life is like a car and a filling station. They can go to church and get filled up, live during the week to empty, go back to church and get filled up, live out the week to empty and go to church to fill up continuing this cycle. The reality of that thinking is you are always running on empty. God did not intend, or anywhere in the Bible indicate that His people were to run on empty.
God’s Word tells us about His strength in us “. So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Eph. 4:11-13
God is always about His ability to fill His church. Each individual to the fullest. Your gauge - on “full”. God is abundant. He is full. He is unlimited. He is in you if you are born again. How do you get full?
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matthew 5:6
Jesus is our righteousness. He is the filling station. He has Life, He has the healing resource, the wisdom for your situation, the knowledge for the answer you need, the wholeness you desire, the vision to inspire, the passion for your life that will never disappoint.
If you are on empty, you are hungry. Pick up a Bible. Go to Gospel of John.
Ask God, “Will you fill me with you”? Be ready to be filled. Filled with God’s Holy Spirit.
