‘in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt...I was a husband to them," declares the LORD.” Jeremiah‬ ‭31:32‬ ‭NASB‬‬

God created us for intimacy with Him. He takes us from our singleness of life and leads us into a covenant relationship. Meaning this, He calls us by faith in God to utterly and completely, without reservation trust in Him. ‘Wives be subject to your own husband as to the Lord’ Eph 5:22. We come to God with the understanding of His great ability of the ‘all in all’ fully and completely trusting Jesus. The church His bride in utter trust in the confines of a covenant.

The other side of the covenant is Love. Husbands love your wives as Christ loves the church and gave Himself up for her. Eph. 5:25. Listen carefully to the wording...’Love..and gave Himself up for her’.

So the covenant looks like this: on the wife’s side complete and utter trust. On the husbands side love and giving up his life for her.

On the church side of the covenant faith in her husband Jesus, on Jesus’ side of the covenant, unconditional love and His giving up His life for the church.

If all marriages were to resemble God’s covenant there would be many happy couples.

This is the day to stop and evaluate.

Wives, are you completely trusting your husband in submission with no secret idols? Husbands are you loving your wife the way she needs to be loved, and giving up your outside interests?

Love and marriage, a picture of faith and death of singleness, so a resurrected Oneness can come through into the intimacy of unity. Pray and seek the Word for the design.
